Egypt is one of the leading countries in the art of Arabic calligraphy, with its calligraphers who have mastered this art over the years, but technology affected this profession and threatened its existence.
Who are calligraphers?
Calligraphers are people who create a different type of art that has always involved producing creative paintings, banners and manuscripts. It also shows our writing traditions in a unique way that made us known all over the world.

Arabic calligraphy
There are many styles of Arabic calligraphy, and each style is written in a different way and shape. The first style is the Thuluth, which is considered as one of the most elegant fonts. The second style is the Kufic script which is one of the oldest scripts used in writing, and there are many more styles of Arabic calligraphy.

Modern technology
You might have noticed the spread of electronically produced banners and manuscripts nowadays, especially in the last three decades, and we all know that this profession began to gradually decline and disappear, until it’s threatened to be extinct. Customers are now more interested in the low price and the speed of completion only.

Calligraphy Schools
To revive this art, President Al-Sisi called for the establishment of a number of schools to commemorate the name of "Khudair Al-Borsaidi", the president of the Egyptian Calligraphers' Syndicate, in honor of his role in preserving the Arabic calligraphy, and the profession from extinction.
