To know more, read this article!

Have you ever heard about the man who sells comfort? Well, he’s been around since the ancient times. Up until recently, El-Minajid’s used to rank first on handicrafts. However, his profession is becoming extinct due to technology.
Who’s El-Minajid?
He has always been the symbol of weddings and happiness. He’s the person responsible for making home furniture, like quilts and mattresses. He used to work with special tools outside his customers’ house to produce huge pieces of art.
El-Minajid used to work with a wooden bow, a stick, a mallet (El- Madaqqa), and needles. Later on, he stopped using the bow and el-madaqqa, started to use electrical machine.

Stages of El-tanjid…
· Separating the impurities from the cotton to smoothen it, by striking it with el-madaqqa and dusting it with the bow and the stick
· Sewing and packing the cotton in a white fabric; using needles.

Reasons of El-Minajid’s extinction…
Islam Ali, a well- known minajid, said that the appearance of fibre mattresses is the primary reason for the low demand on cotton mattresses, despite them being healthy and practical. Cotton ones can be remanufactured any time, with the same cotton. However, if any faulty happened to the modern ones, you can't do anything but throw them away. Also, cotton’s low cultivation and high prices increased the burden on El-Minajid.

Bakr EL-Fakharany, a municipal minajid, said: “Using cotton’s healthy, as it doesn’t transmit diseases, so doctors recommend it. Unlike fibre ones that’re unhealthy; since they aren’t made of cotton ores.”

El-Minajid’s still leaving his traces everywhere. You should try out his art and you’ll definitely get the most comfortable and heathiest cotton mattresses, which you’ll never regret.
