Skill of the shoemaker

Shoemakers are using their amazing skills for making shoes with different designs by using simple tools.

In the past, shoemakers were the only source for buying or making shoes. The shoemaker is the craftsman who makes everything related to shoes like their designing, making, and mending. Currently, the number of shoemakers has become extremely few; due to relying on machines more than handmade processes in making shoes. On the other hand, there are still some people, who wear shoes with special designs, so they go to shoemakers. Therefore, this profession has become rare but not extinct.

They can design shoes and sandals of different shapes and types. They use different materials, which mostly relate to the social class of the client like leather, wood, rubber, plastic, and jute or plant-based materials. Shoemakers can repair damaged and torn shoes. They clean and polish shoes. Moreover, they can do other things not related to shoes like the manufacture of horse saddles and bags as well.

Shoemakers use simple tools. They usually use a mold for a human’s foot for taking the appropriate measurements of the shoes they want to make. Shoemakers use knives, shears, and press machines. They repair shoes or adorn them by using glue, clips, or nails. They also dye leather to color the shoes with beautiful colors and use a clean piece of cloth for cleaning the shoes at the end.

There are specific skills that the shoemakers have to have. They should have hard and rough palms of hands. They have to be highly focused and try as much as they can to make the designs that their clients want. They should be patient and precise.

At present, the manufacturing of shoes has developed very much. There are different shapes and colors of shoes suitable for everyone who works in different jobs. There are shoes specific for athletics and engineers as well.

We should support this profession to protect it from extinction; as it has different unique designs and cheaper prices.
